On Thursday 12 January 2023, Cătălin Măruță underwent surgery for a cruciate ligament tear. The TV presenter is doing well, and his confidence in his surgeon and his irrepressible optimism will help him recover quickly.

Thanks to him, champions in many sports have managed to recover, to compete again, to get back on their feet — literally. In his office you find cups and trophies from patients who wanted to show their appreciation. I am lucky that he operated on me too! Four days after the operation I feel well, I have been in for a dressing change and I am starting my rehabilitation. Keep your fingers crossed for me, I have a long road ahead before I walk the way I did before!"
