A book awarded at the Academic Book Fair.
I am delighted and proud that in October my book "The Diagnosis and Therapeutic Management of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tears — A Clinical and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study", published at the end of 2016, was awarded the DIPLOMA of the Academic Book Fair as an outstanding publication of the 2016–2017 academic year.
My thanks go to my father, Gen. Prof. Dr Codorean Ioan, for his contribution in writing Chapter 3, "Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) assessment of anterior cruciate ligament tears", and part of Chapter 8, "Clinical case presentations".
I am honoured and grateful to Prof. Ștefan Cristea for kindly writing the foreword. His assessment — a pioneering work in our country, highlighting elements of novelty and originality in both diagnosis and arthroscopic surgery — is a great honour.
An extract from the foreword by Prof. Dr Ștefan Cristea — this work "addresses a subject of great interest in the diagnosis and treatment of anterior cruciate ligament injuries, a subject at the boundary between imaging and arthroscopic surgery, and at the same time a pioneering work in our country on this topic."
It is also noted as "the first time in the orthopaedic literature of our country that the intra- and extra-articular anatomical structures of the knee joint have been illustrated and defined on MRI. The normal appearance of the ACL is presented thematically and didactically in the standard sagittal, coronal and axial planes and in the special oblique coronal plane — planes that allow the normal or pathological appearance of the insertion, course, calibre and femoral origin of the ligament's two bundles to be assessed."
The work, structured in 8 chapters and richly illustrated with original magnetic resonance, arthroscopy and surgical images, is intended for all residents and doctors in orthopaedics and traumatology, radiology and imaging, sports medicine and physical rehabilitation medicine.
